Privacy policy

This policy explains how Dearfolio handles information when you use our app, web app, shared works, and this website. Dearfolio is operated by Quite Awesome Limited. For privacy questions or requests, contact admin@voalice.com.

We use this information to sign you in, save and organize your records, support collaboration and sharing, deliver requested reminders, create requested works, administer usage and purchases, respond to support requests, prevent abuse and keep the service working.

Where applicable, the grounds for processing include providing the service you request, your consent for optional features, legitimate interests in security and operation, and legal obligations. You can decline optional permissions; the corresponding feature may then be unavailable.

3. Voice, device permissions and AI

Microphone access is used when you choose to record. Dearfolio can save the original recording and its transcript as part of your entry. Speech recognition may use your operating system’s services; depending on your device, language and settings, processing may occur on the device or through the platform’s servers. We do not promise that all speech recognition is offline.

Photos and videos are optimized to control storage and network use. Dearfolio is not an archival backup of original camera files; retain originals separately.

For AI-assisted creation, we ask for confirmation before sending selected story text, relevant metadata and bounded image previews to the configured AI service. The current integration uses 302.AI and its upstream model providers. Their processing and retention are subject to their service terms. Do not submit information you do not have permission to share with these services. We do not claim that provider retention is zero or that AI processing is end-to-end encrypted.

4. Service providers and sharing

Infrastructure and service providers process information needed to deliver the service: Cloudflare for website delivery, media/network protection and caching; hosting/storage providers for application data; Apple and Google for login, device services and, when enabled, store purchases; Resend for transactional email; and the AI providers described above when you request AI creation.

Inviting contributors or creating a share link makes the corresponding content accessible within that invitation or to people who hold the link. Only share material you intend to disclose. Revoking a link cannot remove copies someone has already saved. Your ordinary records are not automatically published on this website.

We may disclose information when required by law, to protect people or the service, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate protections. Dearfolio does not sell your personal content or use this website for targeted advertising.

5. Storage, security and retention

Information may be processed in countries other than where you live, including locations used by our infrastructure and service providers. Contact us if you need information about the processing locations relevant to your account.

We use access controls and encrypted network connections. This is not a promise of end-to-end encryption, uninterrupted availability or absolute security. Keep independent copies of important memories.

Account content is retained to provide your account until you delete it or request deletion, subject to legitimate legal or security needs. Account deletion removes the associated active records and revokes account access; file removal may be queued and retried. Copies in operational backups or caches may persist until replaced or expired. Purchase providers may retain their own transaction records under their policies. If particular records must be retained for a legal or security reason, we will explain the applicable exception when responding to your request. 6. Your choices and rights

You can edit or remove content you manage, adjust sharing and notification settings, and withdraw device permissions. To request access, correction, a copy of your information, restriction, objection or deletion, email admin@voalice.com. Available rights depend on applicable law; we may need to verify account ownership. Where applicable, you may complain to your local data protection authority.

7. Children and other people’s information

Dearfolio is not directed to children under 13. If a higher minimum age applies where you live, that age applies. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information should contact us. Obtain appropriate permission before uploading another person’s private information, photographs or voice, including children’s information.

8. This website and policy changes

This static website does not include advertising analytics, tracking pixels, third-party fonts or a sign-up form. Cloudflare and network providers may process technical access information and use necessary security mechanisms. The Dearfolio web app separately uses local storage or similar mechanisms for sign-in, caching and user preferences.
